The Forms of Joy

Say good morning to the plants.

Listen to the music the birds make in the morning.

Say “buen provecho” before every meal

and “salud” before each drink.

Sip your coffee slowly.

Give yourself or a lover a massage.

Dance to music,

and sing the lyrics.

Talk to your future or younger self

and do it out loud.

Make wishes.

Fall in love,

kiss in public,

hug your loved ones,

and scream when you see them.

Play that instrument badly

that you’ve always wanted to learn.

Sing out of tune

just because it feels good.

Joy comes in many forms.

Find your joy,

protect it,

and show it,

the world needs more of it.
