My Name Is Not Ali

My name is not Ali.

I don’t even know what my name is.

But this is not my body either.

I have many bodies,

but this is the one that the universe chose for me

on this earth

at this time.

Just like the flowers didn’t know if they were going to turn yellow or blue,

or the trees didn’t know if they would be maple or pine.

And every time I walk,

search for answers,

or pray,

I’m doing it for her,

the one who doesn’t have a name,

and all of her bodies.

For all my loved ones,

for all of nature,

for all my ancestors,

for my future children,

without even knowing it.
