Whenever we do something that we’ve been practicing not to do,
like being cruel to ourselves, overthinking,
or reacting instead of responding,
the solution is not to be upset with oneself
and vow never to do it again,
because that will only create more fear and guilt
when it does happen again,
and it will,
because we are human.
The solution is acceptance of the ups and downs
of learning and practicing something new
and forgiving oneself
of just going down
instead of up all the time.
That forgiveness will allow us the space to bounce back
to our natural state of joy
when we do inevitably go down instead of up,
and overtime,
we will be less afraid to make mistakes.
That forgiveness
will make the mistake less harsh
and less tempting to do in secret and with indulgence.
Acceptance and forgiveness are the solutions
rather than strictness and structure.
Because we
are human.
And nothing can ever go up
without being down in the first place.
Because we
are nature.
