Our bodies let our minds do whatever it wants.
Our bodies are forever servants to the mind.
And with this power,
the mind will kill the body
if the soul doesn’t teach it to be kind.
During the Camino de Santiago,
I walked three 30-kilometer days
and tore a muscle underneath my glute.
And it really freaking hurt.
But I continued to walk with the pain
to keep up with those around me
and to not be perceived by others
as weak.
My mind was disrespecting my body
when nothing should ever overpower the body’s signals.
Because without its help,
we wouldn’t last one day.
We would be nothing.
Our bodies are one-third of “us,”
just as the self and mind are the other two-thirds.
And one is not more important than the other
despite modern science telling us to prioritize
the mind.
We must not forget the other two-thirds.
Each pain is a lesson to care for your body,
to have your mind be patient with its healing,
and to stay connected your body,
when the mind becomes distracted by the world
that tries to get you to destroy it.
