trying to live lies
because we are so afraid
to feel and live the truths we have within us.
We are so afraid of being honest with ourselves.
I see so many grandmas saying,
“I just don’t care anymore.”
“I’ve finally given up trying.”
“Now, I’m doing whatever the fuck I want.”
But wait.
Who came up with the rule
that we had to wait to be sixty-five
to do whatever the fuck we want?
Instead of being ashamed of being honest with the world,
let’s make our outer world
match our inner world.
Let’s start being sixty-five
at age nine.
Let’s start being grandmas.
