Life isn’t about always trying to find joy in every moment.
It’s about always trying to find meaning in every moment.
Life is tragic, and often times things will happen that will cause pain rather than joy.
And it seems almost more hurtful to try to find joy in those moments than to sit in its tragedy.
But thankfully, although we can choose joy in most situations,
finding meaning is possible in every moment.
Meaning is the hidden key to sustainable contentment.
When one wakes up in the morning, telling themselves that nothing else matters today besides finding joy for themselves,
they will most likely stray off the path of their soul,
getting distracted by their senses, external motivations, fear…
But when one realizes that their life is meaningful,
that what they do, say, think, and pray about matters,
that what they put into the world impacts the entire universe on a sub-cosmic level,
the choices they make everyday become a lot more purposeful.
We start to be more conscious and mindful about what we say to our loved ones.
We start recognizing intrusive thoughts that get in the way of our natural state of contentment.
This is when contentment comes.
When you realize that you are an inspiration to everyone and everything around you, how you choose to live your days becomes a lot more valuable and important.
Although joy is a choice based on a change in perspective,
it is not a stable enough to rely on it to carry us through life’s tragedies.
That is where the respect and value you have for your life comes in
for you to lean on.
When we wake up in the morning solely wishing for joy every day,
it’s like searching for water while submerged in the ocean.
Joy is not something you see or obtain,
it’s something you realize and surround yourself in.
We can’t base our lives around collecting more and more joy,
since it’s like the air around us.
However, we can take actions that make our presence in the ocean become more meaningful.
We can create a purpose for being in the ocean.
And slowly, the water around us becomes clearer,
more sunshine beams through it’s freckled depths,
and we find eventually peace in floating in it
with nothing in our hands.
