Why are we self-destructive?
Why do humans do things that we know are not good for us?
But yet, why do we always feel better after we give ourselves permission to be self-destructive?
Why do we sometimes need to mope, have self-pity,
and lay on the couch all day?
I think it’s because we need to have a couch to spring off of at the end of the day.
We need to see ourselves at a low point
and be the one to take us out of it.
We need to not be perfect
so we can practice forgiving ourselves.
We need to leave ourselves
in order to practice hearing what we sound like
from a far
so that we know who to follow
and how to get back.
