Sometimes my inner child screams
because it wants to know that is something is bad for me
it has a way out.
And yes, of course I will know when to leave
if something is bad for me.
But what if it’s not bad but just not warm?
What do we do then?
One of the biggest things I’ve learned in life so far
is that life is better when you stay
with others, with what’s hard, with love.
However, I’ve often told myself my whole life
that it is easier alone
because no one will be pulling you back
from what’s truly warm for yourself.
Maybe we are just so afraid to be cold
that we run from things
without ever feeling if they’re cold or not?
But what if we could do both?
What if we could do the scary thing
and risk touching the cold
and also follow warmth?
We can live in the state of coldness for a little bit
and be okay.
Because you won’t know what is warm or cold
if you don’t touch it.
Warmth can guide me to the light
but it’s not always the opposite of the light that is cold.
We never really know.
We just have to wait until we feel it.
