Your dreams have to be your own.
You can hope they align with someone else’s,
try to change them,
be scared to death by what may happen,
but your dreams will never give up on you.
Dreams will always push back,
like a song that’s stuck in your head.
You can try to put them on hold,
but they will soon call to you again,
like a nudge to your soul
or a book that keeps magically falling off the shelf.
Rather than getting frustrated at that annoying song,
maybe listen to it.
Rather than sneering at the book and reach to put it back,
maybe open it up.
It keeps falling for a reason.
Maybe that’s why they say things will “fall” into place.
You have to let go,
stop controlling,
and fall
in order to follow your dreams.
Answer them when they call, even if it’s scary.
Even if it means maybe losing people along the way.
The people meant to be alongside you through it all
will fall into place.
They will fall into step at your side.
And as long as you follow your dreams,
everyone else’s dreams will fall into place,
too.
Your relationships may even be better
than they ever were before.
Your dreams may even be better
than you could have ever imagined.
