It’s All Stories

We can’t control anything besides what we tell ourselves (aka the story we tell ourselves).

We are always creating stories, whether we know it or not.

It’s what makes us homo sapiens.

And since we are always telling ourselves something, we have some sort of autonomy in the story in a way.

Think of it like reading.

When reading, we may not know what’s going to happen next on the page,

but we get to decide the way we read the words.

We get to interpret the story however we want.

We get to decide what we learn from it.

What we take out of it.

When we read a book to our kids, we get to tell the story in whatever way we like.

We may not write the book, but we create the feelings, memories, and lessons that go along with it.

Therefore, we might as well choose ones that makes us feel better.

That make us smile.

That makes us fall asleep at night a bit easier, like lullabies.

We will never be able to control what words come next on the page.

But we can still create the story.

It’s all a story.
